Chief Executive Officer (permanent)

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 pro rata, depending on experience
Hours of work: 35 hours per week on a full-time basis. We are open to the possibility of fulfilling the role on a part-time/flexible basis
Location: central Bristol, can include both office and home working

Citizens Advice Bristol is an independent local charity and a member of the Citizens Advice national network. The Citizens Advice service offers free confidential advice online, over the phone and in-person. We give people the knowledge and confidence they need to find their way forward, whoever they are, whatever their problem.

Due to the constraints imposed by the pandemic, our service has rapidly adapted to providing advice in new ways. The new CEO will be consolidating those changes and further developing the service. We are seeking a CEO who relishes leading through change and is excited about the opportunity to influence the future of Citizens Advice Bristol.

The Chief Executive Officer’s role is demanding but extremely rewarding, leading a large, dedicated team of volunteers and expert paid staff and securing the resources and partnerships needed to provide an excellent advice service for Bristol citizens.  Ideally, you will have extensive and proven leadership experience gained in the voluntary sector, though you may not necessarily have experience of advice services. You will be able to balance strategic development, financial management and income generation, external relationships, people leadership and operational management and planning.

As CEO, you would work with an amazingly committed and talented group of individuals, in a dynamic and, at times, challenging environment, where the breadth of responsibilities means that no two days are ever the same. You will be supported by a dedicated Trust Board that offers considerable flexibility and independence – of thought and operation.
