News: Working to make the ends meet.....

In a major new project Bristol CAB will be launching a new initiative to help people make more effective use of their money.

In 2006/07, Bristol CAB managed over £8million pounds worth of debt representing over 30% of our total advice work.

A major theme running through this work is that people did not appreciate the full implications of many of the agreements that they sign or the impact of paying less important debts first before paying 'priority' debts such as rent.

The programme is targetted at groups that may be at particular risk of getting into difficulties with their finances, such as young families or young people.

Bureau Director, Max Beseke said, 'With the major expansion of 'face to face' advice services last year and the creation of the city wide Credit Union this exciting project is the final piece in the puzzle of creating a range of practical solutions for people experiencing financial difficulty.
